It is no secret that crime increases in the summer months, and Chicago is certainly no exception to the rule. However, many youth in the city’s Westside communities have had enough of the violence, fear and grief that looms over their summer memories. This year, in partnership with the local police department, youth involved in the Get In Chicago / Westside Health Authority mentorship program are helping to organize a march to demand a safer summer for their community.
You can help them achieve this goal by joining us to make a loud noise in the name of peace — the Safe Summer Peace March takes place on Wednesday, June 10 at 4pm. The youth-led anti-violence event will begin at the 15th District Police Department and will culminate in a party at Columbus Park. See the flyer below for complete details.
