Community Re-Entry
Westside Health Authority’s Community Re-Entry Center specializes in helping returning citizens reintegrate back into their communities. WHA offers its clients a caring and hope-filled environment in which they can thrive and have success. Services include job readiness training, job placement, support services and vocational training. These free services are offered to individuals with a felony record, veterans, special needs, unemployed and homeless residents of Chicago.
WHA is a member of and directs the activities of the Community Support Advisory Council-West (CSAC-West), a collaboration of 65 agencies on the Westside of Chicago who work together to provide for the all of the needs of the formerly incarcerated. This network of partner agencies provides a comprehensive scope of services which augments the direct services provided by WHA.
Community Re-Entry onsite services include:
- Job placement assistance
- Job readiness training
- Job Club
- GED prep courses taught by Malcolm X College Teaching Faculty
- Hygiene kits
- Emergency food and clothing
- Case management intake assessments with referrals for housing, ID’s, legal, healthcare and other services not provided onsite
- Haircuts
- Computer Lab
- Conflict resolution/anger management counseling
- Substance Abuse Counseling
- Mental Health Counseling
- Domestic Violence Counseling
- DUI Preparation
- COTA Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Overcomer/Mentorship Group Meetings
- Mechanical Blueprint Vocational Training Program
- Transitional Residence
