Last week the WHA/Get In Chicago summer youth mentor program participants graduated from Band of Brothers/Set of Sisters. Throughout the summer, our mentors challenged youth to develop the skills and values necessary for success in school and in their personal life. Surrounded by family and community members, graduates were recognized for their unique gifts and personal accomplishments during our ceremony.

As the night came to a close, one of the mothers of a participant in Band of Brothers expressed her hope that the program would be available throughout the school year and again next summer. “I can see a change in my son since he’s been coming here. D’angelo is very quiet and didn’t have anything to say when I would ask him about his day or his feelings, but now he’s opening up.”
