Today, low-wage workers across the nation are on strike against the corporations that boast high profits at the expense of working families and US taxpayers. Fifty-two percent of fast-food employees are forced to rely on public assistance to support their families, amounting to $7 billion annually. Today, the Westside Health Authority stands in solidarity with those who are on strike and their allies who believe in the necessity of a living wage for the health and wellness of our communities and nation.
Below are pictures of a protest at McDonald’s on Laramie and Chicago Avenue where our Community Organizing Director, Charles Perry, joined in the #FightFor15. The fight continues this afternoon at 4pm at the UIC University Hall: 601 S Morgan St, Chicago, Illinois 60607.
