Youth Development
Youth Development Programs for participants ages 14 through 24 Westside Health Authority’s Innovation Center focuses on working with young residents to help them realize their potential in becoming agents of change within their community. Through the Innovation Center, WHA offers services and activities that build and strengthen capacity while providing a safe and structured environment for growth.
Community Reentry
Westside Health Authority’s Community Re-Entry Center specializes in helping all individuals with felony backgrounds, whether on-parole or off-parole, as well as returning citizens reintegrating back into their communities. Westside Health Authority offers its clients a caring and hope-filled environment in which they can thrive and have success. Services include job readiness training, job placement, support services, and vocational training. These free services are offered to individuals with a felony record, veterans, special needs, unemployed, underemployed, and homeless residents of Chicago.
Economic Development
In a continued effort to create opportunities for the citizens of the Greater Westside in Chicago, Westside Health spearheaded the $5.5M Austin Wellness Center and Clinic, the Austin Peace and Justice Plaza, and AV72 Chicago, the First Special Service Area to be designated in the Austin community. Served 22,000 residents last year through housing development, public safety, youth empowerment, civic engagement, and economic development activities.
Employment Services
Westside Health Authority’s (WHA) Community Employment Center specializes in helping Chicago residents find pathways to employment and long-term career success while servicing the human resources needs of local businesses. WHA offers its clients a caring and hope-filled environment in which they can thrive and achieve their goals. Services for job-seekers include job readiness training, job placement, job club, supportive services, and vocational training. These free services are offered at no cost to individuals with a felony record, veterans, special needs, unemployed and homeless residents of Chicago. Businesses also benefit from worksite assessments, TIF fund applications, workforce tax credits, worker wage subsidies, and job matching for permanent and seasonal workforce needs.
